A Toast to Caregiver Mothers Everywhere
In light of Mother's Day, we want to celebrate and thank all caregiver moms. As illustrated in this post, mothers who have children with a chronic disease are not only vital caregivers, but they often must learn to become clinical researchers, develop their own medical opinions, and assert themselves to get the care they believe is best for their children. After all, "mother knows best".
The CBI 4th Annual Rare Disease Leadership Summit will be held on July 15 -16, 2009, in Arlington, Virginia. This event will bring together leaders from industry, government and patient communities for rare diseases. According to a report from Nielsen Online, the online influence of Power Moms – women between the ages of 25 and 54 with at least one child – continues to grow. Power Moms represent nearly 20% of the online population, and most are shopping, blogging, networking and strategizing online. Online behavior also varies between specific demographic categories, with younger recent mothers spending more time blogging and on social networks.
