Biopharmaceutical Marketing Tweetchat Celebrates Second Anniversary
OAK PARK, IL (January 5, 2012) – Today marks the second anniversary of #SocPharm, the biopharmaceutical marketing and social media tweetchat. Tweetchats are online conversations around a specific area of interest held at a prearranged time. The #SocPharm tweetchat is every Wednesday from 8 to 9 pm EST.
“The chat includes people who work for biotech and pharmaceutical companies, agencies and associated services,” said Siren Interactive Director of Search and Innovation Eileen O’Brien, who founded and moderates the tweetchat. “But patients, doctors and nurses also occasionally join in. The idea is to get a variety of perspectives and share best practices as we all figure out this ever-changing world of biopharma marketing.”
Topics range from breaking news to larger issues, such as the relevance of Google+, the use of Facebook for branding, regulatory issues, and the growth of mobile apps. The moderator begins with an introduction and raises a topic for discussion. Participants tweet their responses to the question (using the #SocPharm hashtag), and the virtual conversation goes back and forth. The moderator presents a new topic every 15 to 20 minutes.
At least once a month an industry thought leader guest moderates. In 2011, guest moderators included:
