Database Coordinator/Jr. Analyst

The Database Coordinator/Jr. Analyst (DCJA) is part of the Account Planning team and primarily responsible for maintaining and supporting client-contracted database management projects.  The DCJA is responsible for achieving corporate and department objectives.  They are responsible for maintaining databases, overseeing updates and ensuring accuracy of records, fulfilling list requests, running data queries and generating database status reports.  Supports the rest of the account team on fulfilling clients’ database related requests, and maintaining individual clients’ database documentation.

Core Responsibilities:

  • The work consists of assignments that vary in size and scope as well as tasks that are routine with primary emphasis on storage and retrieval of accurate data in a clear, consise format. This may also involve research work and the ability to categorize, summarize and quantify information from multiple sources and formats.
  • Develop understanding of client's database usage needs and work with Strategic Database Manager to develop appropriate solutions to meet those needs and reports to measure success
  • Ability to take raw data from the source and produce client-ready reports that include a keen understanding of direct marketing principles and insights
  • Generate reports with validated data for all campaigns and regular database status
  • Provide analysis including all segments, responses, testing and appropriate benchmarks for client objectives
  • Monitors the contents of the database and its use by client and internal teams
  • Oversees regular updating of information in the database, including managing feeds from external parties, optout lists, bounce files, NCOA, etc.  Ensures that imported data conforms to database standards
  • Conducts ad hoc summaries, list pulls, and other outputs as requested
  • Is the resident expert for all involved in data entry, recommending solutions to problems arising from ambiguity of data and revising policies and procedures as needed consulting with Strategic Database Manager
  • Understand individual database capabilities and limitations; proactively communicate this with internal team
  • Maintain client database documentation including BRD, data definition library, wishlists/enhancements for both internal team and client
  • Collaborates with PM and Strategic Planner on scope and timeline for database requests
  • Ability to take complex analytics and explain to internal team and/or clients
  • As directed, participates in the development of new business and product/service development
  • Suggests areas for improvement in internal processes along with possible solutions
  • Willing to go above and beyond the call of duty to delight the client and deliver excellent service
  • Ability to be collaborative and work in a team environment

Experience & Skills

  • Bachelor's degree, 2+ years marketing analytics and/or database management
  • Natural curiosity and affinity for data, analysis and quality monitoring
  • Extremely detail-oriented, organized and highly motivated with accurate input and proof reading skills
  • Knowledge of a wide range of principles, technical methods and practices of automatic data processing and reporting
  • Ability to sift through much detail and information, to weigh conflicting priorities, to identify and analyze interrelationships and to interpret abstract concepts and communicate results in an easy to understand manner
  • Strong time management skills including ability to handle multiple tasks and prioritize effectively.
  • Excellent verbal/written communication skills
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Office Suite; Strong SQL; Microsoft Access, Webtrends, Google Analytics experience a plus

Industry Expertise

  • Business and healthcare marketing experience preferred
  • Experience in rare and chronic disease marketing a plus
